A Winter Wish
Soft air is gentle, warm and kind
my limbs are tanned and free
the doves coo tender, flowers sway
with butterfly and bee
The roads unfold to waterfall
rock beach and pounding spray
the sweet days slip like pearls unstrung
this winter holiday
If only I could have a wish
I’d order time stand still
“Stop all the clocks” my one command
until I’ve had my fill

This poem was inspired by “Carry On Tuesday – Prompt 145” and the words “Stop all the clocks.”
“Stop all the clocks” is found in the poem “Funeral Blues” by W. H. Auden. Read and listen to the original poem here.
Hmm – I enjoyed your poem; enjoy the sentiment even more …

So often on holiday I’ve wished that time would stand still. A lovely piece which I can relate to.

True enough. Most people don’t know when they have had their fill and the time is to move on.
