We only have to watch a few underwater videos or movies like Nemo to realize that an ocean neighbourhood is not nearly as friendly or safe as this poem (a repost from February 2011) would imply. But we can pretend, can’t we!
This poem is part of Poetry Friday hosted today by Laura at Author Amok.
Dangerous, maybe, but you capture the beautiful variety of our ocean life.

Hi there Violet, like Laura, I am also a Piscean – a water dragon to be precise. Love the imageries here.

Thanks so much, Myra and Iza. And Congratulations on your book coming out on Tuesday, Iza! How exciting is that!! I read that your book Itsy Bitsy Spider sold over 1 million copies! May Miss Muffett do as well.

Thank you Ruth. Your son’s ‘like’ is high praise indeed. Without little kids around to test these kid poems, it’s hard to tell if they hit the mark.

Love this chant! (And have you redesigned your site? Love the new? look!!)

Mary Lee, what a great name for it: “chant.” As for the site, yes, I picked a different template and added my own background image a little while ago. Once I started putting up poetry book reviews, I felt reading so much white-on-black text was hard on the eyes. (Many website designers say not to use white on black for reading, though it sure makes photos pop!)

I’ve been thinking about writing a sea-creature poem! This one’s very nice, Violet! I love the list-like approach!
